Inspiring Our Children

Anytime you can be involved in helping our youth, you help everyone's future.
- Shirley Berger, Founder, North Carolina Arts in Action

The need for art and movement programs in the school is tremendous. Art programs have been reduced in recent years as budgets have been tightened. Renewed emphasis on core academic curriculum has been instituted as a result of No Child Left Behind. Hard-working administrators are hard-pressed to find the time and money to introduce cultural programs that assist in developing the whole child. But the arts are critical. According to the North Carolina Arts Council, students who participate in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for their academic achievement. In addition to bringing a standard of excellence, discipline and life lessons to the lives our children, Arts in Action provides our students with a great physical fitness work out. With your help, North Carolina Arts in Action can assist in filling this essential gap in our education system!

North Carolina Arts in Action launched its pilot program in January 2006 with private funds from Shirley Berger, other generous individuals, and the Mary D.B.T. Semans Foundation and Mary Duke Biddle Foundation. We are a non-profit organization that ultimately seeks to bring the joy of dance to our state. Please help us grow and consider a contribution today.
