North Carolina Arts in Action provides children, who demonstrate talent and drive, an opportunity to extend their experience in the arts with an after school program and summer scholarship program. At no cost to the child, children receive intensive study and performance opportunities to the arts.
Arts in Action Celebration Team
Members of the Celebration Team are talented, committed students who are selected from the In-School Program to participate in an after-school program and receive advanced dance instruction. 30-40 students are selected to participate for 20 weeks during the school year. They are featured dancers at the end of year performance and have the opportunity to perform at special events throughout the year.
Arts in Action Summer Scholarship Program
As a special opportunity for exceptional students, NC AIA periodically offers scholarships to the National Dance Institute's Irene Diamond Summer Institute in New York City. The Institute is a month-long rigorous program combining a full schedule of classes in ballet, jazz, tap, ethnic dance, music (voice and orchestra) and theatre with special guest artists that expose the children to a wide range of artistic experiences.
